You have a fair bit of control about what you see on your Activity Feed and the order in which you see it. There are no algorithms or sponsored posts, so unlike many of the public social media platforms, you won’t be confronted with anything you haven’t chosen to see (and can’t remove if you wish.
There are two main sources of Activity Feed posts: members you follow and hashtags you follow

Following Members
You can follow members through the Members Directory. Click the “Follow” button (the one with the megaphone) and you will see whatever that member has posted.
When you invite a member to “connect”, you automatically follow them as well. So even though they need to approve the request to connect (which means you can send direct messages and see only their posts for their connections), you will still see their “public” posts in your feed.

Following Hashtags
You can also follow hashtags by adding them in Account Settings. There is no limit on the number of hashtags you can follow. The reason for this is that you will see posts that use the hashtag you follow, even if you’re not following that user. So if there’s something you are interested in, you can see everything posted about it.

You can show only Followed Hashtags via the dropdown menu.

You can see a list of Cafe Hashtags that have been used by members in the sidebar. There’s no limit to the number you can use in posts.
