Here you'll find a quick breakdown of what the scores might indicate for you and your current relationship with inspiration. The point of this exercise is to raise simple awareness about areas to which you might decide to give attention.

The descriptions below are quite general and as such may or may not apply to your specific situation. Use them as prompts for reflection so that you can think about what you might do to intentionally bring more of what you want into your own inspiratory system.

people

People

What Did You Score Yourself?

1-3 might mean...

People are having a negative influence on you - actively taking you away from what brings you to life

4-7 might mean...

You are comfortable in your relationships - lots of well-trodden safe paths - sometimes things feel a bit stagnant

8-10 might mean...

You have people in your life who empower and energise you - they encourage you to become your best self and you find they have a really positive influence on your sense of aliveness

Media

What Did You Score Yourself?

1-3 might mean...

You consume a lot of media that has an adverse impact on your mood and leaves you feeling dis-empowered and anxious

4-7 might mean...

You are intentional about your media consumption but it's rare that you feel deeply moved or inspired by the things you watch, listen to, and/or read

8-10 might mean...

You have a healthy relationship with media consumption and often feel deeply moved and inspired to positively act by the things you choose to watch, listen to, and/or read

Education

What Did You Score Yourself?

1-3 might mean...

It feels like the world is leaving you behind with it's ability to grow and adapt its skills and knowledge - you would love to keep up but have no clue where to start so you're not presently doing anything. Or you might be exhausted by a treadmill of training and education you have no genuine interest in.

4-7 might mean...

You embrace opportunities to learn but rarely allow yourself to stretch far beyond your current interest areas. You would like to allow yourself more permission to spend time and money on gaining new skills and knowledge. You might not know what you really want to learn about

8-10 might mean...

You are actively enjoying and energised by learning new things, and you feel free to invest time, money, and energy in expanding your knowledge and skills. You recognise when you're pursuing knowledge for the wrong reasons and can allow yourself to rest at these times.

Connectedness

What Did You Score Yourself?

1-3 might mean...

You feel disengaged, disconnected and isolated from your sense of personal meaning in the bigger picture, which could leave you cynical and desensitised when you look at the world "out there"

4-7 might mean...

You can see how things ought to be connected and at times you experience "aha!" moments of engagement with the big picture, but you sometimes struggle to really feel it)

8-10 might mean...

You regularly feel a sense of connectedness to the big picture in the world around you, which often stimulates action and energy in your life

Place

What Did You Score Yourself?

1-3 might mean...

You constantly feel like you're in the wrong place. You don't feel connected to or inspired by your environments and you are not visiting places that bring you to life

4-7 might mean...

You sometimes feel connected to the spaces around your life and enjoy visiting new places from time to time

8-10 might mean...

You are deeply integrated into the spaces around your life and find consistent inspiration in your favourite environments (at home and elsewhere

Play

What Did You Score Yourself?

1-3 might mean...

You do very little - if anything - creative or playful right now. You feel alienated from existing creative practices or overwhelmed at the idea of doing anything that doesn't have a useful or productive outcome attached to it.

4-7 might mean...

You know what you enjoy doing when it comes to creativity and play but often forget to do it. When you make time to engage in non-productive pursuits you remember how much it benefits you.

8-10 might mean...

You make regular time for creative play and feel its impact infusing different areas of your life

Movement

What Did You Score Yourself?

1-3 might mean...

You don't have much opportunity to move your body in intentional ways, and find it hard to motivate yourself to move when you intend to

4-7 might mean...

You exercise your body from time to time and feel energised and inspired when you do. But it's not always easy to remember and there are things in life that get in the way of a regular habit.

8-10 might mean...

You make physical movement a priority and find yourself coming up with new ideas and breakthroughs regularly as a result of these times

Art

What Did You Score Yourself?

1-3 might mean...

You don't feel connected to the world of the arts - perhaps you feel envious rather than inspired, or you simply don't experience the arts at all right now

4-7 might mean...

You have regular experiences of the arts but you might sometimes find yourself defaulting to things you've seen or heard before and maybe you struggle to find different things to experience

8-10 might mean...

You spend a lot of time encountering and enjoying a variety of artistic expression and feel connected to how it speaks and inspires you in different areas of your life

Rest

What Did You Score Yourself?

1-3 might mean...

You are exhausted and don't allow yourself to rest because you feel you should be making better use of your time

4-7 might mean...

You get a decent level of sleep and get through the day. When you're stuck on a problem or feeling uninspired you might tend to try harder rather than allowing yourself to stop.

8-10 might mean...

You are very comfortable allowing yourself to rest when you recognise that you're tired or uninspired. You regularly spend time doing nothing and often feel much better as a result.

What Next?

So you know what your inspiratory system looks at the moment. The next question is about where you would like to create better conditions for inspiration to flow.
