What is The Haven?

Whether you’re new in The Haven, trying to get your bearings, or having a look around, hopefully this post will help.

Since its inception in 2014, The Haven has been a space for gentle rebels to meet, explore, and rest alongside one another without judgement, pressure, or expectation.

I deeply appreciate what The Haven has become over the years: a welcoming, encouraging, and accepting home for quietly strong and highly sensitive individuals, where we can enjoy our imperfections and ordinary silliness together.

I love connecting with everyone, whether they pop in, pass through, or choose to unpack and stay a while. It never ceases to reinforce my faith in humanity! Every member brings a unique flavour to the collective experience. So, whether you want to meet new people or simply rest in the presence of like-minded gentle souls, you are welcome exactly as you are.

There are three core village areas: The Café (community forums and gatherings), The Library (resources and materials), and The Fireside (courses and coaching). I made this sound anchor tour to show you around…

Around The Haven

Let me tell you about the core areas you can explore around The Haven.

Also, if you ever hear a word or phrase that makes no sense to you, you might find it in our Haven Phrase Book. Sometimes strange terms evolve from our conversations and they stick. If you don’t find it in the dictionary, drop a message on the forum thread and I’ll add it (and attempt explaining it!)

Home (The Haven Village Square)

The home page is your anchoring point during your stay. You can see upcoming live happenings and navigate to the café, library, and fireside.

Community (The Café)

The social element of The Haven offers different ways to engage with like-spirited Havenites around the world.

Remember when social media used to be a place to hear what people were up to during the day? Or when something caught your attention, and you wanted to share it with people who might appreciate it? The Haven Timeline provides space to playfully engage like this. And, you won’t find noisy algorithms and adverts anywhere! You have full control over what you want to see and how you want to express yourself.

The Forum is somewhere to slow down and dive into deeper, longer, meandering discussions that we can return to and build on over time.

Our live online events allow members to connect over Zoom. Everyone is welcome to observe and absorb the safe and gentle vibe, whether or not you wish to get actively involved in the discussions.

  • The “Kota” is what we call our Sunday gatherings – these are usually 90 minutes long and invite the group to explore a theme, topic, or prompt together.
  • “Courtyard” events are practical pop-up workshops, which have a practical outcome attached
  • Live Cafe or Cafe Hour is our Monday co-working/being space, where we are alone together doing whatever we need to focus on
  • Tuula facilitates the Krafty Kota, which often happens on Sundays when no formal Kota is arranged. It is a mixture of Kota and Live Cafe; members work on creative projects while informal conversation ebbs and flows.

View and contribute to our community gallery, which contains images, experiments, and creative projects people want to share. We have a monthly album where we document anything that catches our attention. P.S. you don’t need to think of yourself as “creative” to get involved!

Content (The Library)

Our ever-evolving library of resources is curated to inspire, equip, and encourage introverts and highly sensitive people in accordance with the latest research. The materials support deepening self-awareness and growth through often accidental creativity, playfulness, and adventure.

You can explore by topic, type (i.e. articles, interviews, replays etc), and theme (dive into the nine annual themes).

Coaching (The Fireside)

Step away from the busyness and disturbances of everyday life and rest. There are coaching options to suit your needs.

A range of self-paced courses guide you to identify how you want life to look, overcome challenges, and achieve meaningful goals in accordance with your sensitive temperament.

Our group sessions, conversations, and workshops provide opportunities to engage with the hive mind and get fresh perspectives on familiar topics.

The One-to-One program includes personalised calls with Andy alongside materials for use between sessions to deepen your relationship with your creative spirit, let go of unhelpful voices, and accomplish your aims on YOUR terms and in YOUR way.
