DESCRIPTION:Photoyoga For The Mind encourages the development of creative awareness and self-knowledge through photography.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nWe turn the Darkroom lights on for this 30-minute Zoom meet-up as Photoyoga participants connect and reflect together. This is a space for sharing what the course materials and prompts have brought to the surface — thoughts\, ideas\, feelings\, or anything that has begun to unfold along the way. The focus is not necessarily on the photographs themselves\, but on the process behind them. \n\n\n\nThe session takes shape around those who attend. At times\, we may want to do small\, spontaneous exercises or take photographs ‘here and now’ during the session\, responding to what emerges in the moment. Have your camera/phone and notebook nearby. \n\n\n\nYou are welcome to join without any pressure to speak. Listening is equally valued\, though we warmly welcome hearing each participant’s experience in whatever way feels comfortable.  \n\n\n\nLive Darkroom meet-ups stand apart from the course materials. DESCRIPTION:A mini-zine-making session with a focus on what we imagine leaving (or being left) for (or by) a stranger on a bench.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nPause. Imagine. Play.\n\n\n\nMaybe you’ll create something you are currently unable to show but long to be fully known for by others. Alternatively\, you might express your hopes and fears about how things are\, and what you long for people to know\, believe\, and change about themselves and the world. Or perhaps your little booklet will become a map carrying anecdotes\, images\, and fun facts to accompany a tour of the local environment. \n\n\n\nOn the other hand\, you might want to reverse the perspective\, imagining that you are the one who finds a small folded book left on a bench by a stranger. Who are they? What is their story? What hopes\, dreams and fears occupy their thoughts right now? How does reality look and feel from their perspective? Maybe it’s a map that shows you somewhere familiar\, but through their eyes rather than your own. \n\n\n\nThere are no rules. It’s just an opportunity to use your imagination and get creative in your own way in the presence of some other gentle rebels. \n\n\n\nWhat to Expect\n\n\n\nThis is a 90-minute online session on Zoom. \n\n\n\n\nArrival: I welcome everyone\, introduce the session and help everyone get settled and started\n\n\n\nCreating: We spend the time making our zines – conversation tends to rise\, fall\, bubble\, and settle throughout the session. Expect a chilled atmosphere with plenty of comfortable silence and time to chat as you play\n\n\n\nDeparture: As we wrap up\, there is space for people to voluntarily share what they’re taking with them from the session \n\n\n\n\n\nPractical Details\n\n\n\n\nDuration: 90 minutes\n\n\n\nLocation: Zoom\n\n\n\nRecording: The session will be recorded and available to watch for 10 days afterwards.\n\n\n\nTickets: Free with the standard Monthly Pass. DESCRIPTION:In this Story Kota\, we will watch a video that Tuula and I put together\, in which she shares how she found herself on an unexpected journey into creativity. \n\n\n\nDespite her vivid imagination and a love of photography\, Tuula Ahde had never considered herself a creative person. But that belief slowly changed when she followed something that occupied her fascination in a way she couldn’t fully explain…ice. \n\n\n\nHer macro ice photographs are full of mystery and magic. What makes them so powerful is Tuula’s deep connection to the ice and the worlds she finds in it. And while her images demonstrate technical skill from a decade spent developing her unique process (using old phones and clip-on lenses)\, it’s her relationship with the ice and the thoughts and emotions that underpin her creative process that make her work sparkle. \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nIce allowed what was inside to make itself known. Its abstract and unpredictable nature allows each image to carry and express a unique story. Some hold tangible landscapes and faces within\, which speak to people in different ways. \n\n\n\nA Symbolic Creative Process\n\n\n\nThe symbolism of ice and Tuula’s approach to working with it are also significant parts of this journey\, which has so powerfully wedded creativity and self-discovery. There is something beautiful in her depiction of the process of creating the ice\, breaking it\, pouring hot water over it to expose cracks that become the soft\, delicate\, fleeting moments where beauty emerges. She illuminates the ice with setting suns and old headlamps\, noticing the big differences that tiny changes in weather\, temperature\, and lighting can make. \n\n\n\nJoin Us in The Kota\n\n\n\nJoin us to explore how creativity can help us learn more about ourselves and the world\, and reveal uniquely meaningful ways to express what seems impossible to put into words. \n\n\n\nThe video is 15 minutes long\, leaving us 45 minutes to chat afterwards.
